About

I’m a British-Iranian documentary maker and journalist based in London. I have an MA in TV Journalism from Goldsmiths University and was selected as a BAFTA Prince William Scholar in 2020/2021 and a One World Media Fellow in 2021/2022.

As a self-shooting director I often work intimately with the people featured in my documentaries, to create compelling and vivid stories. I have a strong interest in social reality and my work is mainly concerned with asking questions about humanity and the dignity of human life.

I am experienced in gaining access to stories in difficult environments. I started directing whilst working as a charity worker, using filmmaking as a collaborative tool with women fighting for gender justice in the informal settlements of Buenos Aires. In addition, reporting on the situation faced by refugee women on the island of Lesvos.

I excel at developing and maintaining relationships with people in a production. I have a strong sense of ethics as a filmmaker, especially when it comes to issues of power and consent, which I maintain through open communication throughout the filming process.

My work often requires me to independently handle all aspects of a production, from the pitch, to the budget, release forms and copyright permissions, to handling both audio and video on shoot.
